Social Media & Mental Health





Have you ever heard about the term "toxic behavior"? signs you're surrounded by toxic person it is like when you're emotionally affected by  their drama. You're exhausted after your interaction. Social media demands you to do some “standard “ to being recognized in social acceptance. The person keep thinking that they have to be like that “standard” even if they not able to. In this case, they feel some pressure to do that some kind of thing and then it became some “faking content” to share. Social media is toxic sometimes because it keep pushing you so do some activity that totally not you and  force you to keep faking yourself. 

According to the research conducted by Jama Psychiatry, teenagers who spent more than 3 hours browsing social media are more likely to developed mental health Issue such as Depression, Anxiety and Antisocial behaviour. As mentioned in the article: “Nearly 6,600 12- to 15-year-old Americans self-reported how much time they spent…whether they had any mental health problems. The researchers found that three hours of social media correlated with higher rates of mental health issues…” The data shown is proof that high usage of Social Media correlates with alarming rise of Mental Health Issue. It can be a dangerous breeding ground of Mental Illnesses

Most young adults use social media. The most popular social media platforms are Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter. The social media platforms allow us to share publicly about our activities even our private life. It depends on us. But, people are not aware about the effect to our mental health. Yes, it can help us to boost our mood or sometimes with enjoying our life and post it on the platforms we can get some money. On the other side, the feedbacks from the netizen can hurts our feeling and if it continue may cause stress or maybe suicide.
